Our 35 years old magazine - KADALAAR- was started on September 1987 which slowly grew to the level of International circulation with its strong principles and ideologies. Our Silver Jubilee magazine goes to all Government Public Libraries and to all coastal villages.

We're proud to tell you about our 35 years old service to the society..!

We usually conduct Annual Day function for each year in the month of September to honor our Pillars who serviced in that year for the growth of Kadalaar.

This function also generally includes Entertaining programs such as Light Music, Singing Competition, Dancing Competition, etc.


This Annual Festival was mostly accompanied with Society oriented services such as Eye Camps, General Health Check Up, Coaching for Unemployed and Underemployed fishing folks in specific areas such as Ornamental Fish Production, Fish Culture, etc.





Mr. KADALAR K. VELAYUTHAM, THE ONE WHO:-

He is a Founder President of “Social Environment and Awareness” (SEA) Trust.


Was the First General Secretary of National Association of Fishermen (NAF) in Tamil Nadu State.


During the period he Was the Main tool for the formation of “Tamil Nadu Fisheries Co-operative Federation” (TAFCOFED) in 1983.


Was the cause for joining all fishermen in “Fishermen co-operative societies” in 1984-85.


In 1983, helped fishermen of Tamil Nadu to get loan through “National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC).”


For the first time in India, with the help of Mr. K. Subramaniam (Exmember, Mandal Commission, Ex-President of NAF) conducted a five day seminar for fishermen at New Delhi in 1985 financed by I.L.O.


In 2000, published a Tamil book called “Kadalar 2000” about fisheries fish workers and fishing industries, etc.


For about 35 years, have been publishing one magazine called “Kadalar” for the awareness of the fishermen community, still now.


Have written 13 books field of Ocealogy, Marine Biology, Fish Industry, Fishermen Welfare and Awareness in Tamil Nadu.


Wi th the help of International Labour Organization (ILO) , International Federation of Plantation, Agricultural and Allied Works (IFPAAW), had been conducted Seminars all over Tamil Nadu to bring awareness to fishermen.


Main cause for getting Rs.20,000 as subsidy for OBM outboard engines to fishermen recently.
Went to Vietnam and learned several fishing techniques and teaching the same to local fishing folks, during the year 2008.


He has gone to 591 coastal fishing villages from Arambakkam to Neerodi to get social status.


Gone to all coastal fishing villages in Tamil Nadu and got informations to pool it in a website.
